About
Photography has been an important part of my life for a long time. As I think back, I recall getting my first camera, a Beseler Topcon 35mm beauty, for about $30.00 in the early 60's. I liked to put the camera over my shoulder and ride around on my bike looking for things to photograph. I am still actively making photographs and marvel at the changes in technology I have seen over the decades since I started. Now you can create "photographs" using computers and AI and not ever use a camera.
Color and Form broadly summarizes my aproach to what I choose to photograph. As a retired dentist, I looked at literally thousands of basically gray images at work daily for 50 years so I am drawn strongly to colors as a result... especially vibrant, rich colors. I especially like to photograph flowers and most wildlife, but especially birds of all types. I am reminded each time I venture out that Mother Nature has presented to us a marvelous buffet of visual wonders. If we can just slow down and try to look at things around us with what I call a "painter's eye" you will start to notice things like colors, patterns, textures, anomalies, forms and shapes all around you. Give it a try - it's free.
The medium I typically choose to display my photos is a process called dye-infused metal printing. I prefer this medium because it yields prints with extraordinary color richness and longevity by forcing the pigments into a resin coating layered on to metal using high heat and pressure. This results in a thicker layer of pigment than you get when colors are sprayed onto various photo papers.
Thank you very much for visiting my site today and allowing me to share some of the things that I noticed along the way that inspire me to keep at it.
